Access Control
This refers to all of the manual or automatic means used to ensure that access to physical spaces or information systems is restricted to authorized persons and cannot a priori pose a threat to the organization or to itself.
The purpose of an access control system is to filter the flow of information, people and sometimes vehicles wishing to enter a site, a building or a room.
An access control system is just one of the safety components that fall within the concept of generalized surveillance of a site.
